Go Local With Your Politics

The Idea

All politics is local, but it's often hard to keep track of what's going politically on in your part of the world. From zoning to environmental regulations to women's health, important city and county level legislation often gets passed with the majority of citizens in the dark.

The Specifics

This challenge is for ideas that track, translate and communicate legislation at the local level and include a call to action. Text message alerts to call your city council member before a vote on your favorite issue? Websites where ordinances can be translated into plain language and citizens can organize a response? LED screens with at a long traffic light?

This is an opportunity for citizens who want to increase transparency in politics to do it creatively in the places where they live.

Timely! Is there an organization that works in this area that you think GOOD should partner with on this?
