Be a Revolutionary: Create

The Idea

Food, school, medicine, radio - we seem to be spoon fed the idea that we are "consumers" - people who receive, swallow, purchase, or digest. We are even encouraged to exercise our consumer power or rights - but what if we were the creators? Create don't consume: the ultimate revolution!

The Specifics

Funds would support projects that engage people as creators, rather than projects that “serve” people or have “participants” – where each person is an actor – making decisions, taking action, creating… these are projects that don’t happen without the full, active, creative participation of all involved – these are not events where someone shows up or donates – these are projects that transform communities by shaking up relationships between people and the world around them. Think start-up cooperatives, think grassroots action, think participatory research, think group art, think muscle not motors, think building not buying … create (don’t consume)!

Super interesting. In line with the "DIY" editorial series GOOD has. Is there an organization that works in this space that you recommend GOOD should partner with?
